Deciding to pack up our lives for a life of camping…

Currently I work in an office and have done so for about 17 years. When I left school I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the form of a career. I didn’t feel passionately about other things that my friends did. Like nursing, I’m sure it can be rewarding but also has a gruesome side!  Lawyers… hectic! no thanks!  So until I figured out what I was passionate about I opted for business admin. Every office needs a gun admin girl right? So there I stayed for 17 years.

Recently I attended an inspirational seminar in Byron Bay called ‘Pursue Your Passion’ held by the amazing girls at The Holistic Project. At first I didn’t know what to expect at this event but off I went with two besties and I’m so glad that I went.  We listened to some great inspirational stories from everyday people who are now very successful doing what they love.  Some people asked “what if you don’t know your passion?” Someone suggested “look back to your childhood, what did you love?” At this point I thought… I can’t take much inspiration out of a family owned caravan park in a little country town of Casino!

Tim Baker is an Australian journalist and spoke of his love for surfing and writing. At one point in his life he decided to rent out his home, travel Australia with his family on the ultimate surf trip and blog. I thought “why can’t I do that??….. I can do that”

Admin work is easy but I don’t get excited to go and do my job everyday.  We just wake up, go to work, pay bills and wish we had more quality time with our kids. Sure I could aim for the stars and work my butt off to build an empire or I could take the time to enjoy to better things in life.  A minimalist life seeing this beautiful country, enjoying time with my boy before he gets old enough to tell me he doesn’t want to hang out with me!  So the planning phase begins to throw away that 5:30am alarm clock and the 9-5 grind and enjoy everyday with my boy…. chasing the sun.
