You know what they say, you can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Ever since I can remember I had a love of horses. When I was my boys age you would have found me every afternoon wandering off down the road to visit the neighbours horses. One of my BFFs has always told me “I always knew you’d end up in the country” and we may share a love for McLeods Daughters… Don’t judge me!
Now I’ve noticed that Harley is always pressuring me to go hiking, look for waterfalls, camping, fishing and loves visiting friends in Tenterfield and the outskirts of Toowoomba. I asked him “what did you love most about our visits?” and he said “just being in the country” It’s good for him to chill out and get back to nature, he finds a bit of peace in his busy mind. Just over 12 months ago I took him on a trail ride and all of a sudden he was a horse whisperer and was telling me about his connection with his horse.
Obviously more recently the Gold Coast has frustrated me more and more as it gets busier and you can’t even do a trip to bunnings without a traffic jam and four red lights to get through an intersection. We are off to do a little more camping and fishing at Easter with no devices and Harley makes a point of telling me “we’ll have to pack wine Mum! we can’t go camping without wine” wise before his time that kid! I told him he can have a ginger beer with me.
So as the plans slowly unfolds to hit the road I’m thinking our travels will just be an extended real estate inspection of where we might like to end up…. It definitely won’t be in a city. Who knows we might just keep going!
